Cowboy Tennis Wraps Up Big 12/SEC Challenge

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Alessio Basile, Ian Bracks, Derek Pham, and Thomas Gadecki competed in the Big 12/SEC Challenge in Waco, Texas this weekend.
Overall, the Cowboys went 6-6 in singles and 4-2 in doubles.
In singles, Basile went 2-1, defeating Texas A&M's Mattis Ross, 7-6 (7-0), 6-3, Florida's Magnus Johnson, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, and losing to Texas' No. 46 Pierre-Yves Bailly, 6-2, 6-3. Bracks also tallied a 2-1 record, beating Texas A&M's Ethan Silva, 6-4, 7-5, Florida's Kevin Edengren, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3, and losing to Texas' Even Burnett, 6-4, 6-1.
Pham, who carries a No. 100 ranking also went 2-1, taking down Texas A&M's No. 97 Giulio Perego, 6-4, 6-4, Florida's Tanapatt Nirundorn, 6-2, 6-3, and falling to Texas' Timo Legout, 6-4, 6-1. Gadecki, in his first action as a Cowboy, dropped all three of his matches to Texas A&M's Ritesh Patil, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, Florida's Henry Jefferson, 6-3, 6-4 and Texas' Lucas Brown, 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles action on Friday, Basile and Gadecki defeated Alabama's No. 83 Roan Jones and Matias Ponce De Leon, 8-3, and Bracks and Pham defeated Carlos Gimenez Perez and Damien Nezas, 8-7 (7-2).
On Saturday, Basile and Gadecki took down Auburn's Thomas Kennedy and Joseph Phillips, 8-5, and Bracks and Pham fell to Alexsander Frusina and Jake Kennedy, 8-3. On Sunday, Pham and Gadecki defeated Texas' Brown and Burnett, 8-2, and Bracks and Basile lost to Legout and Bailly, 8-4.
OSU returns to the Greenwood Tennis Center on October 11 to host the Cowboy Classic. Tulsa, Wichita State, SMU, Baylor, and Texas Tech are set to compete in a hidden dual tournament that will finish on October 13.
