OSU improves to No. 21 in new Scoreboard rankings
October 24, 2024 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State's women's golf team rose to No. 21 in the latest NCAA women's golf rankings on Wednesday afternoon.
The new rankings system is compiled through Scoreboard by Clippd. The rankings are powered by a points system that considers the difficulty of course, the field depth and numerous other important notes.
The No. 21-ranking is the highest OSU has been ranked since September of 2023, when they were No. 19. The 21st-ranked Cowgirls have claimed a runner-up title at the Dale McNamara Invitational and have placed well in stacked fields. They slot in as the third highest ranked Big 12 school, sitting behind newcomers, No. 8 and No. 9 Arizona and Arizona State, respectively.
Kilcrease moved into the No. 12 spot after winning the Carmel Cup and breaking the school record for low round with a 63 at the Schooner Fall Classic. In addition, the junior transfer from Tulsa has placed top 10 in all four tournaments this season, the first Cowgirl to secure four straight top-10's since Maddison Hinson-Tolchard in the 2022-23 season.
In addition to the Cowgirls opening the season with a top-25 ranking, sophomore Ellie Bushnell came in as another top 100 golfer for the Pokes. She improved nine spots from the last rankings, moving to No. 84 in the nation after a career-tying-low round of 67 in round two of the Dale McNamara Invitational.
Thitaporn Saithip, coming off a top-5 placement at the Dale McNamara Invitational, ranks at No. 129 individually.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Monday at the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, at the Ridgelea Country Club.
