Cowboys come up short against Texas Tech in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas – Oklahoma State fell 90-73 to hot-shooting Texas Tech on Tuesday evening at United Supermarkets Arena.
Bryce Thompson scored a team-high 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting for the Cowboys (8-7, 0-2 Big 12). Javon Small added 15 points to go with 14 from John-Michael Wright.
Texas Tech didn't have a single double-figure scorer in last year's loss to OSU in Lubbock. All five starters did in the rematch, led by Pop Isaac's 24-point performance.
The Red Raiders (13-2, 2-0) erased a nine-point deficit midway through the first half with the help of a 19-2 run and led the rest of the way.
Texas Tech shot 59.3% and drilled 7-of-13 threes (.538) to improve to 9-0 at home this season and snapped a three-game series losing streak to the Cowboys.
OSU finished at 47.3% and hit 9-of-25 from deep. The Cowboys committed a season-low nine turnovers but forced just four.
OSU made nine of its first 12 shots from the field to build a 20-11 lead, capped by consecutive dunks from Brandon Garrison and Quion Williams, but missed its next eight thereafter.
Isaacs made a three-pointer to give the Red Raiders their first lead, 24-22, at the 6:40-mark of the first half and another with 39 seconds left to send the hosts into halftime with a 40-31 cushion.
OSU scored 42 second-half points on 52% shooting but fell further behind after Tech put up 50 on 62%.
The Cowboys are back on the road Saturday to take on Iowa State (5 p.m. CT, ESPN2).
