September 20, 2023 | Cowgirl Tennis
STILLWATER – The majority of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team will be in action this weekend across two tournaments in California.
Anastasiya Komar, Raquel Gonzalez, Safiya Carrington and Kristina Novak will be playing in the USTA Intercollegiate Championships in San Diego, while Ayumi Miyamoto, Ange Oby Kajuru and Lucia Peyre will be in San Francisco for the Battle of the Bay.
Five of the seven Cowgirls slated to play this weekend made appearances in the ITA national rankings that were released earlier this month. In singles, Komar ranked the highest at No. 8, while Kajuru came in at No. 40, Novak appeared at No. 90 and Miyamoto ranked No. 93. The tandem of Komar and Gonzalez ranked No. 24 in the doubles rankings, while Miyamoto and Kajuru slotted at No. 39.
Miyamoto and Novak return to the Cowgirls ahead of their final seasons of eligibility, while Gonzalez and Peyre are coming off impressive freshman campaigns a year ago. Komar and Carrington, transfers from LSU, and Kajuru, an Iowa State transfer, will each be making their Oklahoma State debuts.
