Cowgirl Soccer Adds Assistant Coach

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has added a third assistant coach to its women's soccer staff with the hiring of Dustin Stein.
Stein joins the Cowgirls after serving five seasons on the staff at Pittsburgh and helping lead the Panthers' program to new heights.
"We are very excited to add Dustin to our staff. I've known Dustin and his family for many years; he grew up in Oklahoma, and we are delighted he is heading back home," said OSU head coach Colin Carmichael. "Dustin has proven to be a wonderful evaluator of talent, and his recruiting experience, both nationally and internationally, will help us continue to add quality student-athletes to our team. Dustin's values and work ethic aligns very well with our staff, and our players will enjoy working with him on a daily basis. I can't wait to welcome Dustin and his family to Stillwater."
Stein is a 15-year coaching veteran at the high school, collegiate and professional levels.
"To say my family and I are excited to be joining the OSU Cowgirl Soccer family is an understatement," Stein said. "To be able to return to Oklahoma where I grew up and to work alongside Coach Carmichael is a dream come true. I can't wait to share my experiences and help OSU compete for Big 12 championships."
Stein was integral in helping bring some of the top recruiting classes in history to the Pitt program, and those players led to a strong turnaround for the Panthers.
In 2019, Pitt snapped a three-year winless streak in ACC play, and the following season saw the Panthers post a school-record 11 wins and earn its first ever national ranking.
Pitt posted a second-straight 11-win season in 2021 while outscoring their opponents by a 41-22 margin.
Last season, Pitt went 14-5-3, set a school record with 47 goals and earned the first NCAA Tournament berth in program history. The Panthers would advance to the NCAA Sweet 16 and came in at No. 12 in the final national rankings.
Prior to his tenure at Pitt, Stein was head coach at Eastfield College and became the winningest coach in program history in his five seasons.
Over Stein's final three seasons, Eastfield went 42-12-3 and was among the top 10 NJCAA programs. In 2015, he was named the NJCAA Region 5 Division 3 Coach of the Year as well as the Metro Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
During his tenure at Eastfield, Stein coached two All-Americans, two Region MVPs and 28 all-conference honorees.
Stein earned a degree in athletic training with a minor in allied health from Southwestern Oklahoma State in 2010 and a master's in educational technology leadership from Louisiana-Monroe in 2012.
Stein's coaching career began in the high school ranks in 2008 as the boys' head coach at Weatherford High School, and he served as an assistant at Neville High School for two seasons.
Stein was a graduate assistant coach on the Louisiana-Monroe coaching staff from 2010-12 and also served as associate head coach for FC Dallas of the WPSL for two years.
