Cowboy Tennis Adds Three Freshmen

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team bolstered its roster for the upcoming season as three freshmen, Goran Zgola, Erik Scheissl and Ty Wunderlich, will all head to Stillwater it was announced today.
"Cowboy tennis couldn't be more excited to welcome Erik, Goran and Ty to Oklahoma State," head coach Dustin Taylor said. "All three come from illustrious junior careers with aspirations of becoming world-class professionals on the ATP Tour after their time here in Stillwater."
The talented trio will join a top 40 team from a year ago according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's final season rankings.
A native of Poznan, Poland, Zgola will arrive in Stillwater ranked No. 155 in the International Tennis Federation's Junior Rankings. He starred on the ITF World Junior Circuit as well, reaching a career high of No. 86 in the world this past January.
Zgola owns three wins on the professional level, holding a 14.5 ITF World Tennis Number. As a junior, he boasted three national championships in Poland, at the U12, U14 and U16 levels.
"Goran's international exposure and experience being atop the Polish national rankings from a young age has proven that he's an elite player with a ceiling as high as they get," Taylor said. "We are thrilled to be providing him his next chapter in what we believe will be a great career when it's all said and done."
Scheissl resides from Nuremberg, Germany, where he collected four Bavarian International Tennis Championships, along with a German Vice title in doubles. He currently retains a Universal Tennis Ranking of 12.9.
Scheissl was a standout junior coming up through club tennis. He went to traditional school and became one of the elite players on his hometown club team.
"His experience playing for something bigger than himself will pay serious dividends as he enters the Cowboy tennis family, and we are excited to see him in the orange and black for years to come," Taylor said.
Wunderlich hails from Tampa, Florida, retaining a current ITF Junior Ranking of 1,489. He is a top American prospect and has focused mainly on professional tennis during his junior career, highlighted by wins on the ITF World Pro Circuit.
