Cowgirls In Mix After Day Two At NCAA San Antonio Regional

SAN ANTONIO – Fourth-seeded Oklahoma State women's golf battled harsh weather conditions to land in third after the second round at the NCAA San Antonio Regional at TPC San Antonio on Tuesday.
The Cowgirls combined for a 5-over 293, two strokes better than their score from Monday. Top-seeded Texas A&M closed its round strong to take the team lead, while second-place SMU holds a 3-shot advantage over OSU.
Following a 53-minute weather delay early in the round, the Cowgirls settled in nicely on the back nine, shooting 4-under as a team and combining for nine birdies.
With just 18 holes of play remaining, Oklahoma State owns a comfortable 11-stroke edge over sixth-place Denver. On Wednesday, the Cowgirls will be looking to punch their ticket to the NCAA Championship for the third straight season, as the top five teams from each regional site qualify for a spot in Scottsdale.
Clemence Martin continued her strong postseason with a 2-under 70 at the 6,342-yard course to finish the day tied for second, four shots behind UTSA's Camryn Carreon. She carded four more birdies on Tuesday, bringing her total to eight on the week.
The sophomore is in good position for second consecutive top-10 outing after finishing tied for third at the Big 12 Championship in late April and will also be playing for her first victory as a Cowgirl.
Rina Tatematsu fired a 3-under 69, her best 18-hole score since the Schooner Fall Classic in September, skyrocketing her all the way up to a tie for seventh. Tatematsu surrendered just one bogey on the day and ended the round well with two birdies in her final three holes. Additionally, her score was just the third sub-70 round recorded at the tournament thus far.
The junior will be aiming for her highest finish of the season and the 10th top-10 of her career.
After beginning the day as a co-leader, Thitaporn Saithip shot a 6-over 78 to move to a tie for 20th. The freshman leads the squad with nine birdies on the week and has now played 13 counting rounds in a row.
Maddison Hinson-Tolchard signed off on a 4-over 76 and is tied for 36th with a round remaining. Hinson-Tolchard found her groove as the day went on, shooting a bogey-free back nine and nailing a birdie on the final hole.
The junior is looking for a bounce back third round to continue her streak of top-20 results, which currently sits at nine.
Han-Hsuan Yu rounded out the Cowgirl lineup with a 7-over 79, ending the day tied for 47th.
The Cowgirls are scheduled to tee off on hole No. 1 for the third round tomorrow at 9:06 a.m. CT alongside the Aggies and Mustangs.
