Cowgirl Basketball Adds Chandler Prater

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has bolstered its roster with another Big 12 veteran with the addition of former Kansas standout Chandler Prater it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Jacie Hoyt.
"Chandler is a great addition to Cowgirl basketball. First and foremost, she is a leader with Big 12 experience. I love her work ethic and competitive spirit. Offensively, she is explosive and can get downhill, while her physicality creates a lot of mismatch problems for other teams. We are excited to get her in our offensive system and believe that offensively her best basketball is still ahead of her," Hoyt said.
"We have very high expectations for Chandler defensively. Last year, she was one of the best defenders in the league and I am excited for her to set the tone and help take us to new levels in that area."
Prater brings with her 86 games played over three campaigns for Kansas.
This past season, the 5-11 guard saw action in 35 games while making 33 starts. Prater averaged 9.5 points per game and was the Jayhawks' second-leading rebounder at 6.0 boards per contest for KU's WNIT title-winning squad.
In addition to a pair of 20-plus point outings, the two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection recorded four double-doubles on the year.
After playing in 20 games during her redshirt freshman campaign in 2020-21, Prater saw action in all 31 of Kansas' games as a sophomore. The Kansas City, Mo., native averaged 7.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting 44 percent from the floor. In the process, she helped KU reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
As a prep standout at North Kansas City High School, Prater was ranked 73rd overall in the 2019 signing class by Blue Star Basketball Report. Twice she was awarded the DiRenna Award as the top high school player in the Kansas City area and was named the conference player of the year on four occasions.
