Cowboys Fall to Oklahoma, 6-1, in Conference Home Opener

STILLWATER, Okla. – In its conference home opener, the 38th ranked Oklahoma State men's tennis team dropped its Bedlam battle versus No. 42 ranked Oklahoma, 6-1.

Nathan Han and Baptiste Anselmo opened doubles play for the Sooners, defeating No. 65-ranked pairing Tyler Zink and Chase Ferguson, 6-1.

Oklahoma clinched doubles action shortly thereafter as Alex Martinez and Justin Schlageter pushed past Alessio Basile and Carl Roothman, 6-2.

Cowboys pairing Alex Garcia and Isaac Becroft led over Jordan Hasson and Siphos Montsi, 5-3, before ultimately ending unfinished.

To open singles, Luis Alvarez extended the lead, 3-0, for the Sooners, taking Roothman 6-1, 6-3 on court six.

No. 86 ranked Becroft delivered a response for the Cowboys, handling Hasson 6-4, 6-4 to whittle the margin.

In a tough court-five meeting, Han earned the match-clinching point for Oklahoma, winning over Basile 7-5, 7-6(4).

Court one hosted a gritty ranked battle between No. 89 Zink and No. 77 Martinez. Following a 13-11 Martinez first-set tiebreaker, Zink evened the score with a 7-5 set. In the super breaker, Martinez edged out the victory, 1-0(3).

Ferguson faltered to Schlageter, 7-6, 2-6, 7-6(4).

Oklahoma State will head to Tulsa on Saturday, April 8, before opening its two-game homestand versus Texas Tech on Friday, April 14, at 6pm CT.
