Tyler Zink Nets Big 12 Player of the Week Honors

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's Tyler Zink was named the Big 12 Player of the Week for his triad of matches played on March 13, March 16 and March 18, it was announced Tuesday by the Big 12 Conference.
Zink joins Alex Garcia in corralling the league's weekly honor this season. Garcia earned the distinction for his two-match effort on March 3 and March 5.
The senior, along with the Cowboys, recently endured a three-match stretch versus ranked teams, taking on No. 8 USC, No. 44 Pepperdine and No. 34 UCLA across play.
The Sarasota, Fla., native started the week hot, defeating No. 33 ranked Stefan Dostanic of USC, 7-6(5), 6-3, in singles competition. Partnered with Chase Ferguson, he fell 6-3 to Dostanic and Bradley Frye in doubles.
He took down another ranked opponent at Pepperdine, outlasing No 38 ranked Daniel De Jonge and Tim Zeitvogel, 6-2, with Ferguson in doubles. De Jonge outlasted him in three sets in their singles matchup, winning 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.
He went 2-1 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles (one match unfinished), all on court one, during that stretch.
He capped his court-one conquest with a singles win by retirement over Patrick Zahraj of UCLA, 6-3, 3-1. In doubles, he and Ferguson posted a valiant effort, going unfinished 4-4 versus Giacomo Revelli and Patrick Zahraj.
