Cowboy Tennis falls to No. 44 Pepperdine

MALIBU, Calif. – No. 44 Pepperdine defeated No. 31 Oklahoma State men's tennis team, 4-3, on Thursday at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, California.Â
With the loss, OSU moved to 11-5 on the year.
Starting with doubles, the Cowboys won the only two matches to finish. Oklahoma State's Tyler Zink and Chase Ferguson beat the 38th doubles tandem pairing in the country in Daniel De Jonge and Tim Zeitvogel, 6-2.Â
OSU's freshman duo, Alessio Basile and Carl Roothman, defeated Maxi Homberg and Eero Vasa on court two, 6-4, solidifying the team point for the Pokes.Â
In singles, Alex Garcia started off with a 6-3, 6-4 win to grow the lead to two. The Waves got one back when OSU's Francisco Pini fell in straight sets.
Pepperdine's Pietro Fellin defeated Basile, 6-4, 7-5, tying the score. Court two was next to finish, with Ferguson falling to Wave's Zeitvogel, 6-2, 7-5.Â
Pepperdine's De Jonge dropped Tyler Zink, 6-2, 1-6, 2-6. Leighton Allen defeated Linus Halldin in the third set due to retirement.
The Cowboys return to action Saturday at 4 p.m. (CST)against No. 32 UCLA. Â
