Hinson-Tolchard Paces Cowgirls On Day One In Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Oklahoma State women's golfer Maddison Hinson-Tolchard landed in a tie for sixth after a strong first day at the Valspar Augusta Invitational in Augusta, Ga. at Forest Hills Golf Course.
The standout junior opened her day with a 1-under 71 in the first round, before signing off on a 70 in the second, sinking a pair of birdies and surrendering no bogeys.
With the result, Hinson-Tolchard has now played an incredible 47 rounds in a row in which her score counted towards the overall team score. She ended the day seven strokes back of the individual leader and will be looking for her third career tournament victory tomorrow.
As a team, No. 16 Oklahoma State finished seventh following rounds of 296 and 289. At 9-over, the Cowgirls are just two strokes back of sixth-place South Florida and own a three-shot advantage over eighth-place Duke.
In her first start of the spring season, Thitaporn Saithip ended the afternoon tied for 22nd at 2-over. The freshman found her groove in the second round, firing a solid 71 and carding four birdies.
Hailey Jones and Clemence Martin are both tied for 38th at 5-over after 36 holes of play. Martin's day was highlighted by a strong even-par 72 in the first round, while Jones recorded a 71 in the second round.
Han-Hsuan Yu rounded out the Cowgirl lineup in Augusta, shooting 12-over and finishing tied for 65th.
The Cowgirls will tee off tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. CT for the final round of the weekend.
