Cowgirls In Fifth After First Day In Bahamas

NEW PROVIDENCE, Bahamas – No. 20 Oklahoma State women's golf opened its spring season on Monday at the Nexus Collegiate, finishing the afternoon in fifth after combining for a (+18) 306.
Rina Tatematsu started her 2023 campaign nicely as she paced the team with a 1-over 73 to land in a tie for 9th-place, trailing the individual leader by just two strokes. She recorded three birdies throughout the round, including two on lengthy par-5 holes.
The junior has now fired a 73-or-better eight rounds in a row dating back to the final round of the Schooner Fall Classic in September.
Maddison Hinson-Tolchard was not far behind after signing off on a 3-over 75 and ending the day tied for 14th. The reigning Big 12 Player of the Year rode a strong start to her top-15 finish, carding a pair of birdies on the front-nine.
With the result, Hinson-Tolchard has now played 37 consecutive rounds in which her score counted towards the team's overall score.
Han-Hsuan Yu delivered a 78 to wind up tied for 32nd and will look to build off her trio of birdies sunk in the opening round.
Clemence Martin and Hailey Jones rounded out the Cowgirl lineup, shooting rounds of 80 and 83, respectively.
Freshman Cecilie Leth-Nissen recorded an 82 in her first round of the spring, however, takes some momentum into the rest of the week with two birdies in her final four holes.
The Cowgirls will return to Albany Golf Club on Tuesday morning for the second round, looking to close the gap on first-place Auburn. Hailey Jones will be first on the tee for Oklahoma State at 6:45 a.m. CT.
