February 14, 2023 | Cowgirl Golf
NEW PROVIDENCE, Bahamas – No. 20 Oklahoma State women's golf continued its spring season opener at the Nexus Collegiate on Tuesday, finishing the second round in fifth after combining to shoot (+5) 293.
The Cowgirls found much improvement in their second outing at Albany Golf Club, as the team's score was 13 strokes better than their mark from the previous round.
Rina Tatematsu led the way for the second day in a row as she carded an even-par 72 to jump up from ninth-place to a tie for sixth. She trails the individual leader by five strokes with one round left to play and will be looking for her first top-10 finish since the East Lake Cup in October of 2021.
The junior has been a consistent presence for the Cowgirls throughout the 2022-23 season, having fired rounds of 73-or-better in nine straight rounds dating back to the final round of the Schooner Fall Classic in September.
Maddison Hinson-Tolchard maintained her strong start to the spring season, signing off on a 1-over 73 and ending the afternoon just outside the top-10 in a tie for 11th.
The reigning Big 12 Player of the Year used an emphatic finish in which she birdied four of her last six holes to make a late surge up the leaderboard. Hinson-Tolchard has now sunk seven birdies throughout the week, the most on the team.
Clemence Martin bounced back nicely in the second round with a 73 to put her in a tie for 31st. She has made 26 pars thus far in the tournament, one shy of the most by any player in the field.
Hailey Jones also responded well with a 3-over 75, eight strokes lower than her opening round score, to finish the round tied for 46th.
Han-Hsuan Yu rounded out the Cowgirl lineup by shooting a 4-over 76 and landing in a tie for 35th.
While playing as an individual, Cecilie Leth-Nissen recorded a 75 in her second round of the spring. Currently tied for 44th, the freshman will compete for her highest finish as a Cowgirl in the final round.
The Cowgirls will play their third and final round in The Bahamas on Wednesday morning, beginning with a shotgun start at 6:45 a.m. CT.
