STILLWATER — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team used a 16-5 run to close its contest en route to an 86-74 victory over Texas Tech on Wednesday night in front of 1,901 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The Cowgirls forced Tech into five early turnovers while building a 9-3 lead. However, the Lady Raiders made their first seven shots from the floor, including a three-point play, with less than three minutes to go in the period to cut the OSU margin to 18-17.

Tech drilled a 3-pointer with 1:20 on the clock to move in front for the first time in the contest.

The teams were knotted at 22 apiece through the first 10 minutes.

The Lady Raiders connected on 11 of their first 13 shots from the floor to lead 26-24.

Anna Gret Asi drilled a trey at the 5:31 mark to give OSU a 33-29 lead before Tech used a pair of free throws to cut the Cowgirl lead in half.

Lior Garzon would drill a long trey of her own to give OSU a 40-34 lead with three minutes to go in the half. She would add a mid-range jumper to extend the margin to eight with a minute to play.

OSU would take a 44-36 lead into the break.

The Cowgirls scored the first basket of the second half to push the lead to double figures before Tech answered with a 3-point play and a layup on its next two trips down the floor to cut the margin in half.

Tech would add a pair of free throws and a jumper to make it a 9-0 run to cut the OSU lead to 46-45 three minutes into the period.

Asi would knock down a 3-pointer to cap a 6-0 run to extend the margin back to seven.

Tech would get back-to-back treys to get within three at 56-53 with less than two minutes remaining before OSU would get a layup from Terryn Milton. The Cowgirls would lead, 61-55, heading into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Raiders would knock down two more 3-pointers before getting a 3-point play to move in front, 64-63, with 7:50 on the clock.

The two teams would trade the lead over the next six possessions and Tech held a 70-69 lead with 4:41 remaining in the contest.

Taylen Collins converted a layup and Asi drilled a 3-pointer to put OSU in front, 76-70 with three minutes to go. Alnatas would convert a reverse layup to make it a 9-0 spurt and an eight-point advantage.

OSU would hold Tech scoreless for more than four and a half minutes while turning the run into 16 consecutive points.

Milton would lead OSU with a season-high 22 points to go with nine assists and six rebounds.
