Zink, Garcia Reach ITA Regional Championship, Doubles Pairing Advances

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Tyler Zink and Alex Garcia advanced to the ITA Regional Championship, while Zink and Isaac Becroft reached finals in doubles, on Saturday at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
Zink defeated Arkansas' Melvin Manuel in three sets after narrowly losing the second set, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.
After losing the first set, 3-6, Garcia rallied past Arda Azkara of New Mexico and won the next two sets, 6-3 and 6-4. With the win, Garcia and Zink are the lone remaining singles players and will face off in the ITA Regional Championship.
In doubles, with the semifinals being best two out of three sets, Zink and Becroft knocked off Tomothy Carlsson Seger and Pierce Rollins (Tulsa), 6-4, 7-5.
After falling in the second round in the singles main draw, freshman Erik Schiessl impressed and rallied to win five matches in the consolation bracket. He defeated Victor Tosetto, 6-1, 6-4, to win the consolation bracket.
Zink and Garcia are slated to play the ITA Central Region Championship at 10 a.m. CT on Sunday. Becroft and Zink will face Alejandro Gandini and Matthew Lanahan (Creighton) at 2 p.m. CT.
