Cowboys Advance At ITA Central Regional

STILLWATER – Tyler Zink and Alex Garcia reached the semifinals on day three of the ITA Central Regional on Friday at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
Zink notched a win against Jake Sweeney of Arkansas, 6-1, 6-2, to be one of the first players to reach the quarterfinals.
Garcia also advanced, beating Calvin Mueller (Nebraska), 6-2, 6-1. Isaac Becroft secured a win over Volodymyr Zakharov (Tulsa), 6-0, 6-2, to force a quarterfinals match against Garcia.
Alessio Basile marked the fourth Cowboy to reach the quarterfinals, defeating Oklahoma's Nathan Han, 7-5, 6-4.
In his quarterfinal matchup, Zink dropped Arthur Bellegy (New Mexico), 6-1, 6-4, advancing to the semifinals. In a Cowboy versus Cowboy matchup, Garcia defeated Becroft, 6-4, 6-2. He joined Zink in the semifinals.
Basile's run ended in the quarterfinals when he fell to Melvin Manuel (Arkansas), 4-6, 3-6.
In doubles action, OSU's lone remaining doubles pairing Zink and Becroft advanced to the semifinals after a win over Jake Sweeney and Connor Smillie (Arkansas), 8-6.
Action will resume at 12 p.m. CT on Saturday at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
