Cowgirl Tennis Set To Host ITA Kickoff Weekend

The Basics
Oklahoma State's women's tennis team (1-0 overall; 0-0 Big 12) is set host the ITA Kickoff Weekend at the Greenwood Tennis Center this weekend. The action starts Saturday morning at 10 a.m. (CST) followed by the Cowgirls facing off against the Oregon Ducks (2-0 overall; 0-0 Pac 12). On Sunday, OSU will face either No. 16 Michigan or Kansas depending on the outcomes of the matches. The regional consolation round will be at 10 a.m. (CST) Sunday and the regional championship will follow. The regional champion will advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Seattle, Washington, Feb. 9-13.

In the Rankings
Oklahoma State checked in at No. 14 in this week's 2022-23 ITA Tennis Division 1 national women's tennis rankings. The Cowgirls have three student-athletes ranked in the individual rankings, with sophomore Sofia Rojas earning the highest singles ranking of any Cowgirl as she landed at No. 72, while Alana Wolfberg and Raquel Gonzalezz follow at No. 108 and No. 121, respectively.

Series History
Oklahoma State holds a 2-0 all-time record against Oregon. OSU is 1-0 against Michigan and 39-17 against Kansas.

Oklahoma State From a Distance
The Cowgirls started off the spring dual season with a 6-1 victory over Tulsa. This season, OSU returns Ayumi Miyamoto, Sofia Rojas, Alana Wolfbergg and Martina Zerulo from last years team. OSU signed Raquel Gonzalez, Amber Hochstatter, Kristina Novak and Lucia Peyre. The veterans and Cowgirl newcomers have played a large role in the teams early success. OSU set the stage this fall for high expectations come the spring season between the four returners and four signees. OSU has six ITA preseason top 25 opponents on this years schedule.
