Tyler Zink Named Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Year

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's tennis standout Tyler Zink was named Co-Newcomer of the Year by the Big 12 Conference it was announced on Thursday by the league office.Â
ÂThe Cowboy junior shared the honor with TCU's Juan Carlos Aguilar.Â
ÂZink boats a 10-9 record on the year in singles play. His highest takedown of the year came in his first conference matchup of the year, dominating Oklahoma's No. 60 Mason Beiler, 6-2, 6-4. He found himself ranked among the nation's best in the ITA Preseason rankings at No. 30.Â
ÂZink also enjoyed success in doubles action as well. The junior reached a season-high ranking of No. 20, holding a 7-2 record on court one. Most recently, he clipped Texas' Richard Ciamarra and Cleeve Harper in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Championship, 7-5.Â
ÂZink carried an impressive resume to start his tenure at Oklahoma State, twice named an All-American at the University of Georgia, also achieving All-America Status and All-SEC honors as well as being named the ITA Southeast Rookie of the Year. He also claimed the 2019 U.S. Open junior doubles crown.Â
