Cowboy Tennis Falls to TCU

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's tennis team came out on the short end of a 5-1 battle against No. 1 TCU this evening in the Greenwood Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Cowboys dipped to 11-10 on the year and 0-4 in Big 12 play.
Oklahoma State kept play tight in doubles action with all three Cowboy duos taking the court against top-15 opponents.
The scoring began on court three where Fran Pini and Leighton Allen fought hard but dropped their match against No. 10 Juan Carlos Aguilar and Pedro Vives, 6-2. Max Verboven and Alex Garcia went back and forth against No 11 Sander Jong and Lui Maxted, but were clipped, 6-3, to give TCU the doubles point heading into singles play.
Tyler Zink and Seb Nothhaft put on an impressive showing, the pairing lead No. 2 Luc Fomba and Jake Fearnley when the point was decided, 5-4.
The Horned Frogs kept the momentum rolling into singles play. Seb Nothhaft put up a consistent test against No. 81 Jake Fearnley, but ultimately came up short, 6-1, 6-3. Alex Garcia battled against No. 10 Juan Carlos Aguilar before falling in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
On court one, Tyler Zink was quick to find his rhythm in his opening set against No. 18 Luc Fomba, 6-3. The pairing played point for point, but Fomba came out on top, 6-3, 10-7, to notch TCU's third singles point and extend the lead to 4-0. Max Verboven kept pace with No. 45 Sander Jong, but a hard-fought battle landed in TCU's favor, 6-3, 6-4.
Leighton Allen highlighted the day for Oklahoma State, putting on a gritty performance in his matchup with TCU's Tim Ruehl. Allen was quick to find his rhythm in the opening set, 6-4, only for Ruehl to battle back to secure the second set, 6-3. The Cowboy rounded out the night with a gritty 10-8 third set to get OSU on the board.
On court five, Fran Pini and Pedro Vives went unfinished, 6-3, 3-6, 0-1.
The Cowboys are back in action at the Greenwood Tennis Center this Saturday to close out conference play against No. 12 Texas at 12 p.m.
