Cisse Becomes Second Cowboy To Earn Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Honors

Avery Anderson III Earns First All-Big 12 Selection
IRVINING, Texas --- Oklahoma State's Moussa Cisse was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year alongside Baylor's Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua and West Virginia's Gabe Osabuohien while Avery Anderson III was selected to the All-Big 12 Third Team, the league offices announced Sunday.
Cisse is just the second Cowboy in conference history, alongside two-time selection Marcus Dove (2007 and 2008), to be picked as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. It is the first time in league history the honor has been shared.
In his first year at OSU, Cisse was the Big 12's top shot-blocker with 54 for an average of 1.86 per game. He finished sixth in the conference with 6.52 rebounds and also averaged 7.2 points while connecting on 55.9 percent of his field goal attempts.
For Anderson III, this marked his first All-Big 12 honor. He played in all 18 conference games for the Cowboys and averaged 11.9 points per contest, an OSU best. He shot 36.8 percent from the field while averaging 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 rebounds.
In addition to being named the Defensive Player of the Year, Cisse was also selected to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team. In doing so, he became the first Cowboy since 2015 to earn a spot on the defensive team.
Oklahoma State closed Big 12 play with an 8-10 record and tied for fifth to finish the season at 15-15 overall. This marked the second-straight year OSU won eight or more conference games and finished in the top half of the league.
