Softball Splits Doubleheader With Stanford

STILLWATER - The No. 8 Oklahoma State softball team split a Friday doubleheader with Stanford, claiming a 6-1 win in game one and 5-1 loss in game two at Cowgirl Stadium on the first day of the OSU Tulsa Invitational.Â

The Cowgirls moved to 12-5 on the season and Stanford to 16-3 overall.

In game one, Kelly Maxwell had another dominant performance, allowing one run on three hits. She recorded the win to improve to 6-0 on the year and turned in her third consecutive complete game.Â
Â
Julia Cottrill homered twice in the first game and added three runs batted in and two walks. She reached base six times in Friday's doubleheader.Â
Â
Katelynn Carwile also added two hits in game one, both of which were extra base hits. She also recorded two RBI.

In game two, a couple of runs in consecutive late inning frames propelled the Cardinal past Oklahoma State.

Miranda Elish recorded the loss and fell to 3-4.

OSU's one run came when Morgyn Wynne tripled home Sydney Pennington, who reached base with a single.
