March 23, 2022 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Outdoor Track & Field opens its 2022 season in Austin, Texas, for the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Several athletes will compete in the prestigious event while another group heads to Tulsa for the ORU Invitational.
Saara Hakanen makes her return to outdoor competition for the first time since last year's NCAA West Prelims in College Station, Texas, when she completed the second-highest high jump in program history at 1.82 meters (5'-11.5").
Hakanen also holds both the indoor and outdoor (non wind-aided) school record in the triple jump and is looking to add to her impressive career tally of four All-Big 12 honors.
The men's and women's 4x400 Meter Relay squads are also back in action after successful indoor seasons.
Kalaya Ali, Nickie Dixon, Christina Ollison, Tori Ortiz, Michaela Travers and Tamara Woodley are all in the running and looking to improve upon last season's squad that qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Travers will also compete in the 400 Meter Hurdles, where she currently sits fifth in school history in the event with her time of 1:00.44 that she set last year at the Texas Relays.
Charlie Bartholomew, EJ Berry, DJ McArthur, Cash Merutka and Koryee Wyatt are in the running on the men's side, coming off a sixth-place finish at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in Ames, Iowa.
Berry, McArthur and Wyatt each scored for the Cowboys at Big 12 Indoors with Wyatt running the fifth-fastest 60 Meter time in program history as a true freshman.
Meanwhile, the Cowboy and Cowgirl throwers traveling to Tulsa are coming off impressive indoor campaigns that saw Sam Mason and Zac Robbins swapping the second spot on the indoor program record list, with each earning All-Big 12 honors. Hannah Bradford also had an impressive indoor season, moving up to third on the Cowgirl Weight Throw leaderboard and will move to the Hammer Throw for the outdoor season.
