Cowgirls Card Best Round Of Spring To Surge Into Second In Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 5 Oklahoma State women's golf recorded its lowest round of the spring as it closed out the second round of the MountainView Collegiate in second place at 22-under after shooting a 273 on Saturday in Tucson, Ariz.
Maddison Hinson-Tolchard shot a bogey-free front nine to surge into a tie for fourth at 7-under. Her round of 66 was her lowest 18-hole score as a Cowgirl. She carded four birdies prior to the turn and closed her final nine holes with three more.
San Jose State, who started the day in second, took the lead late in the second round at 24-under after shooting a 275. OSU shot a 273 and finished the day in second place at 22-under. Texas Tech, who open the round in first, will head to the weekend in third at 21-under.
As a team, Oklahoma State posted the best par-3, and par-4 scoring through the first 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament.
Han-Hsuan Yu carded a 68 in the second round to end the day tied for first at 9-under. This marked her fifth-straight round in the 60s and ninth-straight round at par or better, which is tied for the longest streak for any Cowgirl this season.
Hailey Jones and Lianna Bailey shot rounds of 69 and 70 to end the day tied for 15th at 3-under. Jones started the day 4-under through six holes after recording three-straight birdies after opening her round with a par on the par-4 first.
Jones has led the tournament in par-4 scoring at 5-under through the first two rounds.
Clemence Martin rounded out the Cowgirl lineup at 1-under and will head to the final 18 holes tied for 30th place.
The third round is set for 10:00 a.m. CT on Sunday at the par-72, 6,352-yard layout. Live scoring will be available on birdiefire.com and the team's social media as it becomes available.
The 16-team tournament features Big 12 opponents Kansas State, Iowa State, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas Tech in addition to Missouri, Arkansas, Florida, Houston, North Texas, San Jose State, Southern Mississippi, Texas A&M, Tulsa and UNLV.
The Cowgirls won the individual and team titles in this event in 2021. OSU's 54-hole score of 844 was the second best in the tournament's 23-year history.
