Cowboy Tennis Defeats UNLV, 4-1

Stillwater, Okla - Oklahoma State's men's tennis team found its way back into the win column on Saturday afternoon, defeating UNLV, 4-1, inside the Greenwood Tennis Center.Â
ÂWith the win, OSU improved to 3-5 on the year and moved to 3-2 at home. Additionally, the Cowboys halted a five-match losing streak while simultaneously disrupting UNLV's perfect 4-0 record on the year.Â
ÂOSU came out swinging in doubles play, taking its second consecutive doubles point in dual play. OSU's duo of Joseph Chen and Seb Nothhaft dominated UNLV's Jackson Atherton and Anton Ornberg, 6-3. Next up, Alex Garcia and Max Verboven clinched the doubles point over Milos Dabic and Zac Brodney, 6-4. Leighton Allen and Fran Pini trailed on court three when the point was decided to Zach Garner and Christopher Bulus, 6-5.Â
ÂThe Cowboys brought the momentum to singles play, winning the opening set on five of the six courts.Â
ÂCourt four was first to finish in singles action, when Leighton Allen put on a show against Rebel Zach Garner. Allen made a statement securing a, 6-4, 6-2, straight-set victory to extend OSU's overall lead to 2-0.Â
ÂUNLV's only point of the day came via court one when No. 48 Christopher Bulus defeated Alex Garcia, 6-2, 6-4.Â
ÂNo. 88 Seb Nothhaft bounced back on court two to claim the opening set against Zac Brodney, 6-4. Nothhaft rallied to defeat Brodney with a crucial second-set comeback, 7-6(3).Â
ÂFran Pini made an impressive statement on court five against Tom Ciszewski. The freshman battled back-and-forth through the opening set before ultimately taking it, 7-5. The match was decided overall at 4-1 when Pini closed out his second set, 6-3
ÂMax Verboven and Joseph Chen had consistent battles on their respective courts. When play was decided, Verboven trailed in the second set to Milos Dabic, 7-5, 3-4. Chen made a thrilling comeback on court six and was close to tallying another OSU single's win against Anton Ornberg, 7-5, 4-3.Â
