Â
In the Rankings
The Oklahoma State football team is receiving votes in the AP Top 25, but is not ranked in either the AP poll or the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll. OSU has now appeared in the AP Top 25 in 23 of the past 25 AP polls. Including 2022, OSU has reached the top 10 of the AP poll at some point in 11 of the past 15 seasons and has seen a top 15 ranking in the AP poll in 13 of those 15 seasons. With OSU's inclusion in CFP Rankings earlier this season, the Cowboys have also been part of the CFP rankings in seven of the past eight years. West Virginia is not ranked.
Â
The Series
Saturday's game marks the 14th meeting between Oklahoma State and West Virginia in a series that began in 1928. The 2022 season also marks the 11th consecutive year the teams have met. The Cowboys own a 9-4 all-time series advantage, including a 4-2 edge in Stillwater. OSU has won seven straight over the Mountaineers and has won each of the past three played in Stillwater. A win Saturday would extend the longest win streak for either team in the series. Mike Gundy is 8-2 in his career against West Virginia, while WVU's Neal Brown is 0-3 against OSU.
Â
Oklahoma State from a Distance
Oklahoma State is 7-4 on the year and has extended its school-record streaks of bowl eligibility and winning seasons into a 17th consecutive year. OSU started the season with a 5-0 record and reached as high as No. 7 in the AP poll, but a double-overtime road loss at still undefeated TCU gave the Cowboys their first setback of the year. They bounced back with a come-from-behind win over then-No. 20 Texas but dropped two straight games on the road before beating Iowa State at home and then dropping last week's game at Oklahoma. Several players in key starting roles have missed games due to injury or have played at less than 100 percent this season, which was a huge factor in the road slump. The list of players who have missed playing time this season includes quarterback Spencer Sanders, running back Dominic Richardson, wide receivers Braydon Johnson and Jayden Bray, offensive linemen Preston Wilson, Hunter Woodard, Cole Birmingham, Jason Brooks Jr., and Joe Michalski, safeties Sean Michael Flanagan, Thomas Harper and Jason Taylor II, defensive linemen Brock Martin, Tyler Lacy, Trace Ford and Brendon Evers, punter Tom Hutton and Cowboy Back Blaine Green. All have started several games for Oklahoma State. Even with more than its fair share of injuries, the Cowboys have put together a team that ranks No. 16 in the FBS in passing offense, No. 4 in third down defense, No. 15 in tackles for loss and perhaps most impressively No. 2 in fewest penalties. The standouts in each phase of the game have been Sanders on offense, who leads the Big 12 in total offense and is second in points responsible for, Taylor on defense, who is a semifinalist for the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award and ranks No. 3 in the FBS in solo tackles per game, and kicker Tanner Brown on special teams, who is one of just three FBS kickers who has attempted 20 field goals and made at least 95% of them.

Honoring Cowboy Seniors
This year's seniors will be honored Saturday as part of OSU's 2022 Senior Day:
Â
Â
An Oklahoma State Win Would ...
• Improve its school-record home winning streak to 15 games.
• Mark the second time in school history that Oklahoma State has had a perfect home record in back-to-back seasons. The first came when Oklahoma A&M went 3-0 at home in both 1917 and 1918.
• Match a school record for most home wins in a season with seven. OSU set the record with seven home wins last season and has won at least six home games in 10 previous seasons.
• Mark the 15th time in school history and the seventh time since 1940 (1940; 1945; 1957; 1984; 2011; 2021; 2022) that OSU has finished the season with a perfect record at home.
• Secure a top-four finish in the Big 12 standings for the fourth straight season and for the 10th time in the 12 years played without divisions. These numbers would remain the same if the Cowboys secured a top-three finish via a win combined with a Texas loss.
• Make it 8-4 or better for the fourth straight season and for the 12th time in the Mike Gundy era.
• Give it wins in nine of its past 10 and in 22 of its past 26 games following a loss.
• Give it wins in 10 of its past 14 regular season conference games.
• Give it eight straight wins vs. the Mountaineers and four straight wins in Stillwater.
• Make the Cowboys 10-4 all-time vs. West Virginia and 5-2 vs. WVU in Stillwater.
• Improve Mike Gundy's career record vs. West Virginia to 9-2.
• Improve Mike Gundy's record in Big 12 games to 96-60.
• Improve Mike Gundy's record in home games to 90-27.
• Make it 22-6 in its past 28 games overall, dating back to the 2020 season.
• Make it 87-19 in its past 106 games vs. opponents outside of the AP Top 25, dating back to 2010.
Â
Notable Streaks and Trends Entering the Game
• OSU has won a school-record 14 consecutive home games.
• OSU has held 29 of its past 32 Big 12 opponents under their season scoring average.
• OSU has won 81 consecutive games when holding its opponent to fewer than 20 points, dating back to Sept. 13, 2003 – the longest active stretch of time in the FBS and longest since at least 1980.
• OSU has held its opponent scoreless on its game-opening drive in 29 of its past 42 games.
• OSU has held its opponent to less than a 50% third down conversion rate in 35 of its past 36 games.
• OSU is 34-13 in its past 47 games decided by fewer than 10 points.
• OSU is 44-7 in its past 51 games when leading at halftime, dating back to Sept. 17, 2016.

• Dating back to 2008, OSU is 74-8 when winning the turnover battle.
• OSU has won three of its past five overtime games.
• OSU has forced 45 turnovers in its past 29 games.
• Over the past 36 games, OSU has held opponents to 150-for-544 (27.6%) on third down.
