Cowgirls Bolster Backcourt With Two Prep Standouts

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has added a pair of talented guards with Stailee Heard and Mia Galbraith both signing National Letters of Intent. The duo will join head coach Jacie Hoyt's squad next season.
"We are really excited for our first high school class as we continue to lay a foundation for our program," Hoyt said. "We felt like we got exactly what we were looking for in terms of stye of play and culture."
Stailee Heard · 5-11 · Guard · Sapulpa, Oklahoma (Sapulpa)
"Stailee is cut from a different cloth that seems to be few and far between these days. She is as blue collar as they come! She has a great level of athleticism that we feel will translate well into our up-tempo style and she is skilled enough to score the ball at all three levels," Hoyt said.
"Defensively, she takes more pride than most and we have high expectations for her as a lockdown defender. Of all the things I love about Stailee, her pride in representing her family and the state of Oklahoma is at the top of the list. She represents all things Cowgirl basketball."
Heard has scored 1,165 points through her first three prep seasons. As a junior, she averaged 19.4 points per game on her way to earning all-state honors. She also averaged 9.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.2 steals per contest.
The 5-11 guard helped Sapulpa to the Class 5A state tournament where she averaged 26.5 points and 12.1 rebounds. For the year, she averaged 16.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.9 steals on the year. She was named the Frontier Conference Newcomer of the Year as a freshman after averaging 12.1 points per game.
Heard is also a standout on the track where she was the state runner-up in the 800 meters and won the state cross country individual title as a sophomore. She has also earned all-state honors in volleyball as well.

"Mia is a great addition for us in terms of adding some much-needed depth at the point guard position. She is tough and loves to compete. I love how she plays with a chip on her shoulder and never backs down. This mentality is a great fit for who we are," Hoyt said.
"Offensively, Mia has some flare to her game that I know our fans will love. She can really score the ball, but also facilitates for her teammates."
Galbraith enters her final high school season having scored 1,083 points and pulled more than 400 rebounds during her career. As a junior, she averaged 10.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.7 steals per contest and was named a first-team All-District 26-6A selection.
Additionally, the 5-9 guard was named to SBLive's All-Central Texas first team and was a nominee for the Girls Basketball Player of the Year by the Austin American-Statesman.
As a sophomore, Galbraith averaged 15.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 3.2 steals per outing. She produced 10.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.4 steals per contest as a freshman.
