Cowboy Tennis Wraps Up ITA Regionals

Day 1
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team went a perfect 8-0 on day one of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals main draw on Thursday in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
With the wins, each Cowboy advanced from the round of 64 to the round of 32.
Leighton Allen won his first matchup in the round of 128, defeating Creighton's Shin Inoue, 6-1, 4-6 and 6-1.
After getting a first-round bye, Alessio Basile, Francisco Pini, Carl Roothman and Chase Ferguson took commanding victories over their opponents, winning in straight sets to advance to the round of 32.
Alex Garcia battled for his win. After losing the first set, 7-5, he immediately bounced back in the second with a 6-4 win. In the third set, it took a tiebreaker for Garcia to outlast Mikhail Korkunov of Nebraska-Omaha, 7-4.
Becroft claimed sets one and three against Oral Roberts' Jonathan Evans, earning the win and advancing.
In his second match of the day, Allen bounced back after losing the first set, 4-6. In the second, Allen took a 7-5 victory before winning the final set, 6-1, moving to the round of 32.
Day 2
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Five Cowboys advanced to the round of 16 after play today at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Regional main draw in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Alessio Basile, Carl Roothman, Isaac Becroft, Alex Garcia and Chase Ferguson won their matchups making Oklahoma State 13-2 in the tournament.
Basile defeated Shunya Maruyama of the University of Nebraska in two sets, 7-5 and 6-4. Becroft came out on top against Drake's Evan Fragistas, 6-4 and 6-1.
Garcia followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Tulsa's Timothy Carlsson Seger. Ferguson controlled his match versus Fernando Martin Paz from Lindenwood University. He came out on top 6-2 and 6-0.
Roothman was the only Cowboy that went to three sets before securing the victory, going 6-4, 3-6 and 6-0 against Drake's Matija Matic.
Day 3
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After securing a win on Saturday, Oklahoma State's Alex Garcia advanced to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's main draw quarterfinals in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Garcia defeated fellow Cowboy Isaac Becroft, 6-4, 6-3, to move on to the quarterfinal round. The win makes him the lone Cowboy to advance in the tournament.
Alessio Basile, Carl Roothman and Chase Ferguson fell in their respective matchups.
