Maddison Hinson-Tolchard Earns First Win In Opening Tournament Of Spring

SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN, Ariz. – Sophomore Maddison Hinson-Tolchard won her first collegiate individual title at the Rapsodo in the Desert at Lost Gold Golf Course on Monday. She shot a career-low 67 in the second round to finish 10-under in the tournament.
The Cowgirls finished second at 13-under. They shot 282 in the final round at the par-72, 6,498-yard layout. Arizona State won the team title with a 280 on the day to finish 18-under.
Oklahoma State led the field in par-3 and par-5 scoring and had a tournament best 42 birdies.
With her victory, that now makes six different Cowgirls on roster with at least one tournament victory.
"We didn't come out on top, but we saw a lot of good golf this week," head coach Greg Robertson said. "It was great to see Maddi get her first college win. She's been steadily progressing over the last year, and she was due to breakthrough like this.
"We have a couple of weeks before our next tournament, and we'll be looking to build off of this week."
Caley McGinty surged in the second round with four-straight birdies to finish 3-under. She shot a 69 on the day to finish tied for fifth place. Clemence Martin notched her career best finish as a Cowgirl at 1-under and tied for tenth.
Lianna Bailey and Hailey Jones finished tied for 17th at 2-over. To round out the lineup, Isabella Fierro finished 4-over and tied for 26th.
The Cowgirls return to action on February 13 at the Columbia Classic in Melbourne, Florida.
