The Basics
Oklahoma State's women's tennis team (0-0 overall; 0-0 Big 12) is set to open its spring dual season this week with two home non-conference matches vs. No. 23 Princeton (0-0 overall; 0-0 Ivy League) and South Carolina (0-0 overall; 0-0 SEC). The Cowgirls and Tigers square off at 5 p.m. (CST) on Jan. 19. OSU finishes off the week Jan. 23 against the Gamecocks at 12 p.m. (CST).

Oklahoma State received votes in the ITA pre- season poll, but did not crack the top 25. Princeton checked in at No. 23 and South Carolina also received votes for a top 25 ranking. OSU currently has three student-athletes ranked in the 2021-22 ITA Tennis Division I national women's tennis rankings, with freshman Oona Orpana earning the highest singles ranking of any Cowgirl as she landed at No. 55, while fellow newcomer Mhai Sawangkaew checked in at No. 86. In addition, Ayumi Miyamoto and Mhai Sawangkaew are the 56th-ranked doubles duo in the nation.

Oklahoma State holds a 2-0 all-time record against Princeton. The last time OSU played Princeton dates back to the 2015 season, when the Cowgirls swept the Tigers, 6-0. OSU is 4-5 all- time against South Carolina and last played in 2020 when the Cowgirls were won, 4-2.

The Cowgirls enter the 2021-22 season coming off an 11-12 finish last year. The Cowgirls were battle-tested facing ten top-25 opponents on the season. OSU returns Alana Wolfberg, Dariya Detkovskaya, Ayumi Miyamoto and Lora Boggs from last years team. OSU signed Sofia Rojas, Oona Orpana, Mhai Mananchaya and Martina Zerulo.
