Cowboys Third After Day One At Pebble Beach

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team got its fall slate underway on Friday at Pebble Beach Golf Links, posting a 357 total during the first round of The Carmel Cup to finish the day tied for third place.
The Cowboys' 3-under total knotted them with Texas Tech. OSU finished the day a shot behind Mississippi State for second place and two back of Georgia at the par-72, 6,828-yard layout.
Georgia's Trent Phillips posted an opening 66 to lead the field by two.
OSU's Bo Jin came in tied for second place after firing an opening 68. The sophomore birdied the third and fourth holes before carding his lone bogey of the day at the fifth. He answered with an eagle at the sixth to turn in 3-under 33. He came home in 1-under 35 after posting eight pars and a birdie at the 16th.
Senior Eugenio Chacarra opened with a 70 to finish inside the top 10. He will begin tomorrow's second round tied for ninth place.
Junior Dillon Stewart's 72 tied him for 17th place, while junior Brian Stark came in a stroke back with a 73 and tied for 20th place.
Junior Rayhan Thomas carded an opening 74 to stand in a tie for 30th, while senior Aman Gupta opened with an 80 to finish the day in 48th place.
