Cowboys Vault Into Fourth At NCAA Championship

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team fired a 274 during its second round at the NCAA Championship on Saturday to rise 16 spots into fourth place Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.
Behind a pair of 67s, the Cowboys 14-under tally moved them into a tie with UCLA at 569, 7-under par. Auburn holds the 36-hole lead with its 556 total at the par-72, 7,528-yard layout. OSU's second-round total is the second-best tally ever in an NCAA round at La Costa behind the Tigers' Saturday 272.
Arizona's Filip Jakubcik is the individual leader at 10-under 134 after posting a 66 on Saturday.
Cowboy junior Eric Lee climbed 26 spots into a tie for ninth place at 139 after following an opening 72 with a 67. Lee put together a bogey-free round that included a pair of birdies on the front nine and a trio of birdies on his second nine.
Junior Preston Stout made a major move as well, jumping 44 spots into a tie for 13th place after posting a 67 as well. Stout carded three birdies on his front nine. His second nine had three birdies and his lone bogey of the day.
Junior Gaven Lane finished the day tied for 65th place at 146 after signing for a 72.
Junior Ethan Fang posted a 71 to move up 23 spots into a tie for 77th place at 147.
Sophomore Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson moved up 53 spots into the group at 147 after firing a 69 during his second round.
The Cowboys will be grouped with UCLA and Duke for tomorrow's third round and will begin play at 6:52 a.m. (PST).Â
