July 27, 2021 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team has added Arkansas transfer Maxim Verboven to its roster it was announced today by Cowboy head coach Dustin Taylor.
"The Cowboy tennis family is extremely proud to announce the addition of Maxi Verboven and cannot wait to see him competing in the orange and black! Playing atop an SEC singles and doubles lineup over the past three seasons, Maxi has proven that he belongs amongst the top collegiate players in the country," Taylor said.
"His experience, along with his energy and passion for the game, will be a tremendous asset to this young Cowboy team as we look to build a championship culture here in Stillwater. For programs to go from good to great, you need a vocal leader who is willing to put it on the line day in and day out and we got that in Maxim Verboven."
Verboven comes to Oklahoma State after spending the past three seasons as a member of the Razorback program where he played primarily at the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles.
A native of Overpelt, Belgium, Verboven's junior campaign showcased wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, highlighted by a victory over No. 25 David Stevenson of Memphis. In his shortened sophomore campaign, three of his four victories came in straight sets and he logged doubles victories over Oklahoma's top-ranked tandem and the 40th-ranked duo from Ole Miss.
During his freshman campaign in 2019, he posted a 7-4 mark in singles action and a 13-9 mark in doubles play.
Verboven was a top-ranked junior player in Belgium and competed on the ITF Junior Circuit. His brother, Laurens, starred at the University of Southern California where he was an ITA All-American for the Trojans in 2018.
