Cowgirls Drop Bedlam Series Finale

STILLWATER — The Oklahoma State softball team dropped to 40-8 (15-3 Big 12) on the season with an 11-8 defeat to the Oklahoma Sooners (41-2, 16-1).
Carrie Eberle (19-2, 1.06 ERA) got the start in the circle for the Cowgirls and pitched five innings while striking out two Sooners in the loss.
Logan Simunek came in out of the bullpen and pitched two innings, striking out two more batters in relief.
The Sooners got out to an early 9-1 lead after a six-run second inning and three-run third inning, in which the Cowgirls had four errors.
The Cowgirls mounted a comeback in the bottom half of the third, cutting the lead to 9-7 behind home runs from Kiley Naomi (1-for-3, HR) and Alysen Febrey (2-for-4, 2 RBI), and a series of walks from the OU staff.
The teams swapped runs in the fourth, with OSU's run coming via a Hayley Busby (2-for-3, HR) home run to cut the lead to 10-8 before the Sooners capped off the scoring in the fifth.
The Cowgirls return to action next weekend in the Big 12 Conference Tournament in OKC as the No. 2 overall seed. OSU will open with Texas at 11 a.m. CT before taking on Iowa State at 5 p.m.
The winner of each "pool" at the conference tournament will advance to the conference championship game at 3 p.m. Saturday on ESPN2.
