Cowgirls Drop Second Game of Bedlam Series

STILLWATER — The Oklahoma State softball team dropped to 40-7 (15-2 Big 12) on the season with a 6-4 defeat at the hands of the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (41-2, 15-1).
Kelly Maxwell (14-3, 1.48 ERA), got the start in the circle for the Cowgirls, pitching 5.1 innings and striking out seven Sooners in the loss.
Logan Simunek (4-3, 2.45 ERA) came on in relief of Maxwell in the sixth inning and pitched the rest of the way, holding OU to just one run in her appearance.
OU took a 6-2 lead to the seventh inning before the Cowgirls began a rally. Karli Petty (1-for-1, HR) went deep to lead off the inning before the next three batters reached via a hit by pitch and two walks, before a sac fly finished off the scoring for the Cowgirls in the game.
The Cowgirls return to action tomorrow for the rubber match against the Sooners. Tomorrow's winner will claim the Big 12 regular season championship, which would be the first Big 12 title for OSU.
Tomorrow's game is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPNU.
