Cowboys Earn NCAA Singles, Doubles Bids

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State had a pair of players earn entry into the NCAA Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships it was announced today.
Matej Vocel was selected as one of 64 participants for the singles event. Accompanied by Emile Hudd, Vocel was also chosen as one of 32 duos for the NCAA Doubles Championship.
Carrying a No. 47 ranking, Matej Vocel was a prominent leader in singles play for the Cowboys, spending the entirety of the season at the No. 1 spot. Vocel claimed seven ranked victories during the regular season with his highest ranked victory coming against No. 23 Eliot Spizzirri in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, on the road in Austin. He holds an 11-5 record in singles action.Â
Vocel and Hudd check in at No. 29 in the doubles rankings, holding a 6-4 record on the year. The duo's most notable win of the year came in the semifinals of the Big 12 Championship, where the pairing took down No. 13 Eliot Spizzirri and Siem Woldeab of Texas to clinch the doubles point.
The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 23-28 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, after the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 17-22. The University of Central Florida and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission will serve as hosts
