Fierro, Tatematsu Earn WGCA All-America Honors

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's golfers Isabella Fierro and Rina Tatematsu were named honorable mention All-Americans by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.
This is the second career All-America nod for Fierro and the first for Tatematsu, who joined first team selection Maja Stark as 2021 WGCA All-Americans. This marks the third time in school history that the Cowgirls had three All-Americans in the same season - a first since 2009.
Fierro was an honorable mention All-American as a freshman in 2020, and took her game to new heights as a sophomore. Her scoring average of 71.23 (-0.48 to par) is the third best mark in program history, just ahead of her freshman campaign of 71.76 (-0.24 to par), and her career scoring average is the best ever by a Cowgirl at 71.44 (-0.38 to par).
At her best in the year's biggest moments, Fierro carded a 7-under 65 in the second round of the Big 12 Championships, which broke the event's all-time scoring record. She finished the tournament in a tie for sixth to earn her first All-Big 12 Championship squad selection.
A 2020 WGCA All-American Scholar, the Merida, Mexico native earned her first Academic All-Big 12 selection in 2021 while ending the season at No. 20 in the GolfStat collegiate rankings.
Tatematsu is ranked No. 42 by GolfStat, which makes her the highest ranked freshman in the Big 12. The Bangkok, Thailand native set a new program record for par-5 scoring with a mark of 4.66, and her overall scoring average of 71.85 (0.12 to par) is the fifth best ever by a Cowgirl golfer.
She recorded 20 rounds at par or better, which is the third best clip in school history, and her 118 birdies are the sixth most ever by an OSU player. Tatematsu won the ICON Invitational after carding back-to-back rounds of 66, and her 14-under 202 at that event is the fourth-best 54-hole score ever by a Cowgirl.
Tatematsu earned All-Big 12 Championship Team honors after a T8 finish, and then she helped OSU advance to an NCAA Championship runner-up finish.
