Natasha Mack Named Finalist For Defensive Player of the Year

SAN ANTONIO – Oklahoma State's Natasha Mack was named one of four finalists for the Naismith Women's Defensive Player of the Year Award it was announced today by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
In addition to the Cowgirl senior, South Carolina's Aliyah Boston, Northwestern's Veronica Burton and Arizona's Aari McDonald were tabbed as finalists.
The Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and unanimous Big 12 All-Defensive Team and first-team all-league selection, Mack has been a force at both ends of the floor for the Cowgirls.
The Lufkin, Texas native leads the country with her 111 blocked shots on the year and her 4.1 blocks per contest are also the nation's best. Mack ranks third in the country with her 9.3 defensive rebounds per game and is second with 18 double-doubles.
She ranks 53rd in the country with her 55 steals as well.
In addition to her all-conference honors, Mack has been recognized at the national level as well. She has received All-America status from the Associated Press, ESPN.com as well as Sports Illustrated and is also a finalist for the Katrina McClain Award, which is presented to the nation's top power forward.
