The Basics
The third-ranked Cowgirl equestrian team is set to compete in a second consecutive Big 12 doubleheader Saturday against TCU in Stillwater and Sunday vs. Baylor in Waco, Texas.
OSU enters the weekend meets coming off two-straight ranked wins, taking down No. 7 Baylor, 14-6, at home and No. 5 Fresno State, 8-7, in Fort Worth last weekend.
About the Cowgirls                     Â
The Cowgirls (2-1) are led by 22nd-year head coach Larry Sanchez, second-year assistants Laura Brainard and Olivia Dorey and graduate assistant Caroline Becker.
An Oklahoma State Win Would...                     Â
• Improve the Cowgirls' all-time record against the Frogs to 21-11.
• Improve the Cowgirls' all-time record against the Bears to 27-13
• Give the Cowgirls a three-game win streak.
• Keep OSU ahead of TCU in conference play.
Who to Watch                        Â
"I could not be more excited about the depth and maturity of our team this year," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "Our senior class has shown great leadership throughout this year, and the entire team cannot wait to compete this weekend."
Katie Schell:Â Katie Schell is off to an undefeated start on the season after an opening meet against TCU where she won 88-78 on the Flat and 88-85.5 in Fences and was the MOP in Flat. She didn't slow down last weekend as she secured two more wins in Flat and Fences to make her record in each event 3-0 on the year.
Team Captain Abigail Brayman fell to 0-1 to start the season but bounced back with an outstanding 85-82 victory against Baylor and claimed MOP honors in Fences. The next day Brayman would go on to score a Cowgirl point with an 86-78 victory and was named the Flat MOP for the second consecutive meet.
Harley Huff began her senior campaign last week with a 76-71 victory in Horsemanship followed by another win against Baylor. Huff suffered her lone loss narrowly against Fresno State and looks to get back on track on senior day.
Sydnee Gemar was defeated to start the season but gained momentum last weekend when she earned two-straight MOP honors against Baylor and Fresno State.
Team Captain Stephanie Helsen won her ride, 69.5-66.5, in Reigning to start the season and split her rides with a loss against Baylor and win against Fresno State.Â
