Cowboy Culture: Nic Pesoli
November 29, 2021 | Cowboy Tennis
The Oklahoma State men's tennis program offers opportunities to top-tier athletes around the world. The 2021-22 edition is no different as the Cowboys have assembled a 10-man roster from eight different countries.
Nic Pesoli is a standout freshman who hails from Austin, Texas.
The newcomer brings an impressive resume into his first year. Pesoli carried a five-star rating while being ranked No. 4 in his Texas class. The freshman helped to secure a state title for Westwood High School with a straight-set singles victory in 2020.
But he didn't stop there; in 2021, he posted an impressive 11-3 mark and went 3-0 in matches against fellow five-star recruits.
The freshman welcomes the new opportunity with open arms and appreciates their shared experience as transfer students regardless of where they call home.
"It's been great. All of the guys have been super nice, it's been unique that we've all come from different places," said Pesoli.
"Most of them are transfers or freshmen, so that's been a really cool dynamic because we are all in the same boat."
Head coach Dustin Taylor has also been crucial to a positive and seamless transition during this new chapter for Pesoli. "It's been great with DT and Dane. DT is an excellent coach, so is Dane. They both help us out a lot. DT has been super consistent since day one, he's been helpful since the start."
Notably, Pesoli has been ranked among the top 40 in his class since 2018. His goal for the season is to compete for a team title.
"We get to build something from scratch. I'm super excited for this season and it's been really fun so far. It's super unique."
