Cowgirls Rally To Knock Off Missouri State, 44-40

STILLWATER, Okla.—Oklahoma State's women's basketball team clawed its way back from a double-digit halftime deficit to knock off Missouri State, 44-40, in front of 1,577 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls moved to 2-1 on the year as the contest served as OSU's Remember the 4 game, honoring the lives of former head coach Kurt Budke, assistant coach Miranda Serna and supporters Olin and Paula Branstetter, who were killed in a plane crash on Nov. 17, 2011.
In the first quarter, the Cowgirl held the early lead before the Lady Bears went on an 11-0 run to move in front, 14-5. OSU endured a six-minute scoring drought, hitting just one of its last 10 shots in the quarter.
Overall, the Cowgirls went 3 of 15 from the floor in the period and trailed 14-7.
Two minutes into the second, MSU hit a trey to extend the margin to double digits for the first time on the night at 19-8. However, both teams struggled through the first five minutes of the frame, combining to hit just three of their 18 shot attempts.
The Lady Bears then used an 8-0 run to extend to a 27-10 margin with 2:37 left in the half. OSU would score the final five points of the quarter to get within 12 at the break.
OSU was held to a 21-percent effort from the floor, while MSU connected on 29 percent of its shots from the floor.
The Cowgirls opened with the first four points of the third, cutting the deficit back to single digits and forcing MSU to use a timeout. The OSU defense held the Lady Bears to just two points through the first four minutes of the quarter.
OSU scored 12 of the 14 in the quarter and cut the deficit to 29-27 with less than a minute to play.
The Cowgirls got a layup on the first possession of the fourth to knot the score. Senior Abbie Winchester converted a three-point play at the 7:25 mark to put OSU in front, 34-33.
Junior Lauren Fields converted another and-1 with 3:21 to go to extend the OSU run to 9-0 and push the lead to 40-33. Collins added a bucket on the Cowgirls' next trip to push the lead to 42-34 with less than two minutes remaining.
The Lady Bears banked in a 3-pointer with a minute remaining to cut the margin to five. They would add a three-point play with 26 seconds left to cut the margin to 43-40.
Junior N'Yah Boyd knocked down a free throw with nine seconds left to seal the win for OSU.
Collins finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds to record her first career double-double. Lauren Fields added nine points and five block
