Cowgirls Earn First Win of the Season at SMU

DALLAS — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team picked up its first win of the season on Sunday afternoon with a 67-50 victory over SMU in front of 463 fans inside Moody Coliseum.
With the score tied at 8-8, the Cowgirls (1-1) put together a 9-0 run over the final four minutes of the first quarter to start taking command of the contest.
In the second, OSU extended its margin to double figures at 20-10 behind a 3-pointer from sophomore Lexy Keys before junior N'Yah Boyd added one of her own on the next trip down the floor. Seniors Brittany Reeves and Abbie Winchester added baskets before junior Lauren Fields' 3-pointer made it a 13-2 run and a 30-12 lead for the Cowgirls halfway through the period.
Fields connected on another trey with 2:24 left in the quarter to push the margin to 36-14. The Cowgirls held a 37-19 lead at the break. For the game, OSU finished with nine 3-pointers, while holding the Mustangs (1-1) to a 1-of-13 effort from beyond the arc.
OSU took its biggest lead of the contest at the 6:31 mark of the fourth on a basket from sophomore Taylen Collins, which pushed the margin to 63-35.
Fields led the Cowgirls with 14 points to go with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Boyd added 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Lexy Keys was the third Cowgirl to reach double figures with her 10 points.
Collins scored nine points while grabbing a career-high 13 rebounds.
