Cowgirl Tennis Advances At Norman Open Series

NORMAN, OKLA. Three Oklahoma State women's tennis players advanced at the Norman Open Series this afternoon.
The day started with singles action, where Martina Zerulo dropped set one and trailed, 4-2, in set two before coming all the way back in a gritty performance to defeat Alexandra Pisareva, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. Zerulo advanced to tomorrow's semifinal round with the win.
The doubles semifinals were filled with Cowgirls. Martina Zerulo and Oona Orpana took down teammates Ayumi Miyamoto and Mhai Sawangkaew, 7-6, 6-3, to advance to tomorrow's doubles finals.
On the opposite side of the bracket, Cowgirl Dariya Detkovskaya and Rasheeda McAdoo were defeated by McKenna Schaefbauer and Kelly Williford, 7-6, 6-2.
Zerulo will be back in action in tomorrow's singles semifinals at 10 a.m. and Orpana/Zerulo will compete in the doubles championship following the conclusion of singles play.
