Oklahoma State Game Notes
• The Basics
Welcome to "Rivalry Week" in Stillwater. Oklahoma State, which is coming off a 16-point road win at Kansas State, will host its biggest rivals when Kansas and Oklahoma visit Gallagher-Iba Arena on Tuesday and Saturday, respectively. The Cowboys lead the nation with five road wins, but will need to protect their home court to move out of the four-way tie for fifth place in the Big 12 standings. Tuesday's game can be seen on Big 12 Now on ESPN+, and fans can listen to the game with Dave Hunziker and John Holcomb on the Cowboy Radio Network.
• Road Warriors
OSU owns perhaps the nation's best road resume. Victories at K-State, No. 13 Texas Tech, Wichita State, Marquette and UT Arlington have given the Cowboys a 5-1 record away from Stillwater, which is tied for the most road wins in the country. OSU's lone road loss this year came at No. 4 Texas by just three points. The Cowboys are shooting identical 45.8 percent clips in both home and road games, but on the road OSU is holding its opponents to 37.1 percent. At home, that mark jumps to 42.9 percent.
• The Series With The Jayhawks
This will be the 178th meeting between Oklahoma State and Kansas, which trails only the Bedlam matchup with Oklahoma (240 meetings) as OSU's longest standing rivalry. This will be the 37th consecutive meeting in which the Jayhawks have been ranked inside the Associated Press top-25. Kansas leads the series to 118-59, and has taken five straight since OSU's regular-season sweep in 2018.
• Nobody Plays KU Closer
No other program has had as much recent success against Kansas as Oklahoma State, which has eight wins over the Jayhawks since 2008. OSU has won four of the last seven games against KU in Gallagher-Iba Arena, including the famous 2018 sweep of the Jayhawks - the first by any program since 2001.
• Always A Cowboy
Former Cowboy Bill Self is facing his alma mater for the 36th time as a head coach, including four meetings in his time at Oral Roberts and 31 at Kansas. Self's record against OSU is 22-13 (21-10 with KU, 1-3 with ORU), but he is 6-9 inside Gallagher-Iba Arena (6-7 with KU, 0-2 with ORU). Self was a four-year letterman at OSU under Paul Hansen from 1981-85, and his 319 career assists still rank 14th in school history. After graduating in 1985, Self would spend seven season as an assistant coach at OSU under Leonard Hamilton and Eddie Sutton.
