STILLWATER, Okla. – Both the Oklahoma State men's and women's tennis teams were honored this week for their work in the classroom with the announcement of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams.
Both squads were named ITA All-Academic Teams. To receive the distinction, a squad must carry a grade point average of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 scale and all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form. Additionally, all varsity letterwinners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
Four members of head coach Jay Udwadia's squad were named ITA Scholar-Athletes with Etienne Donnet, Emile Hudd, Dominik Kellovsky and Oscar Moraing all receiving the honor. To be named a Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale for the current academic year and must be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
The honors add to an impressive list of academic achievements for the program this past season. For the 14th consecutive semester, the Cowboys achieved a 3.0 or better GPA and all active members of the squad were named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
On the women's side, eight members of head coach Chris Young's squad were named Scholar-Athletes. Katelyn Blumenthal, Lora Boggs, Dariya Detkovskaya, Catherine Gulihur, Ayumi Miyamoto, Lenka Stara, Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Alana Wolfberg all received the distinction.
Like the men, the Cowgirl squad continued its run of academic excellence this past spring, posting a 3.7 GPA or better for the sixth time in the past eight semesters and its ninth consecutive semester with a 3.5 GPA or better.
