Cowboy Basketball Earns NABC Team Academic Excellence Award
July 16, 2020 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State one of just four Big 12 schools to earn the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award.
The Cowboy joined Texas, Kansas State and West Virginia on the list of recipients, which honors squads across all levels of college basketball that maintained a team GPA of 3.0 or better for the 2019-20 season. This is OSU's second time to be honored in the eight-year history of the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, and the first since 2016-17.
In three years under head coach Mike Boynton, the Cowboys have had six Academic All-Big 12 picks, including a trio of honorees in 2020 – most by an OSU team since 2014.
On Wednesday, Cowboy graduates Trey Reeves and Thomas Dziagwa were two of just seven Big 12 basketball players to earn a spot on the 2019-20 NABC Honors Court.
Reeves, who is pursuing his Master's degree in accounting at OSU, is possibly the most decorated Cowboy in school history when it comes to academic honors. Reeves graduated in December with a degree in accounting and a perfect 4.0 GPA, and was named the recipient of the prestigious Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholarship. He earned the 2019 Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award - the Big 12's highest academic honor - was a two-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection and a 2017 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team member.
Reeves was one of just 16 members of his OSU graduating class to earn Outstanding Senior honors, and was one of 41 OSU Alumni Association Seniors of Significance.
The Cowboys are slated to open the 2020-21 season against Green Bay on Nov. 10 in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Season tickets are on sale now and start at just $150. Visit okstate.com/tickets or call 877-ALL-4-OSU for more info.
