Hoops Signing Class Moves Into Top 5 With Three Key Additions

STILLWATER – For a second straight year, one of the nation's best basketball signing classes will suit up for Oklahoma State.
Mike Boynton's 2020 class is currently ranked No. 4 by Rivals, No. 8 by ESPN and No. 9 by 247Sports, which makes it the best class in the Big 12 and the best OSU class in the recruit-rankings era.
On Wednesday, the Cowboys signed four-star talents Donovan Williams, Mr. Basketball in Nebraska, and Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe, the top player in Canada, as well as grad transfer sharpshooter Ferron Flavors Jr.
These signing add to a class highlighted by Cade Cunningham, the 2020 Naismith High School Trophy winner and the top player in the country according to USA Today, 247Sports and Rivals. In addition, the Cowboys signed four-star guard Rondel Walker and Montreal Pena, a three-star forward listed among the top-40 players at this position in the country.
The Cowboys 2019 signing class was also ranked in the top-25, and included Oklahoma's own Kalib and Keylan Boone, Avery Anderson III, Chris Harris Jr. and Hidde Roessink.
Donovan Williams

Nebraska's Mr. Basketball is now a Cowboy.
Donovan Williams, an ESPN and Rivals four-star recruit, led all Nebraska high school players with 28.3 points per game. No slouch in the rebounding department, he also hauled in a team-high 8.1 boards per game, and added 1.6 steals and 1.4 assists per game.
Rivals lists Williams as the nation's 128th ranked recruit, while 247Sports also listed him among the top 150 recruits in the country and the No. 28 shooting guard.
He is a three-time First Team All-State selection and a two-time First Team Super-State honoree by the Nebraska Coaches Association. The Lincoln Journal Star also had Williams listed among their First-Team All-State selections in 2019 and 2020.
A true scorer from all three levels, Williams posted a school-record 50 points against Class A state champion Bellevue West just days after scoring 44 points against Lincoln Northeast.
Williams set new school records for points in a career, single-single season scoring average, as well as 3-pointers in a season and career.
As a junior, he averaged 21 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game while leading North Star to the Class A semifinals. The three-time all-city first-team selection scored 18.3 points an outing as a sophomore.
Williams, who plans to study criminal justice at OSU, chose the Cowboys over scholarship opportunities from Kansas State, Texas, Nebraska and others.
Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe
6-7 I 205 I F I Fr. I Mono, Ontario, Canada I Orangeville Prep
Rated a four-star recruit by ESPN and Rivals, Moncrieffe is the first two-time BioSteel All-Canadian Player of the Year, an award previously won by NBA lottery picks R.J. Barrett and Thon Maker.
The combo forward is listed by 247Sports as the No. 57 recruit in all of high school basketball and the top recruit in Ontario, Canada. He averaged 21.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.7 steals, and shot 57.0 percent from the floor for Orangeville Prep as a senior in 2019-20.
Moncrieffe posted 19 points and 12 rebounds in helping Orangeville win the Ontario Final 8 Championship. In fact, he posted 10 games of 20 points or more, including a pair of 30-point games. His season high of 33 points on 14-of-21 shooting came against RISE Prep in the opening round of the Final 8.
A standout for Team Canada, Moncrieffe joined future OSU teammates Isaac Likekele and Cade Cunningham in Greece for the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup. He saw action in seven games and averaged 3.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game for the Canadians.
He also suited up for Canada at the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup, where he averaged 11.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in helping the Canadians finish fourth in Argentina. Moncrieffe also shot 60.0 percent from 2-point at the event.
He chose Oklahoma State over offers from Seton Hall, Georgetown, Arizona State, Florida, Oregon and others.
Ferron Flavors Jr.

Ferron Flavors Jr. averaged 13.4 points and 3.5 rebounds for Cal Baptist last season, but most importantly, he was one of the nation's best sharpshooters.
The Federal Way, Washington native knocked down 2.93 3-pointer per game on 42.7 percent shooting – both tops in the Western Athletic Conference.
His clip of 42.7 percent ranked 16th in the NCAA (minimum 2.5 makes per game), and his 2.93 makes per game was tied for 26th nationally. What's more, his numbers only improved in league play. Against WAC competition, Flavors shot 43.9 percent and made 3.0 per game.
Last season, the 6-3 guard posted 22 double-digit scoring performances, including four 20-plus point games. He knocked down five or more 3-pointers on eight occasions. In his best outing, Flavors hit 6-of-13 3-pointers for 24 points in a win over Central Arkansas.
With his help, Cal Baptist won 21 games and finished second in the WAC with a 10-6 mark in league play.
Prior to joining CBU, Flavors played the 2017-18 season at Fairfield Univ., where he led the Stags and ranked 17th in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with 12.3 points per game. He also hit 95 3-pointers that season – second most in school history – and his 2.88 3-pointers per game ranked 47th nationally.
His collegiate career began at South Mountain Community College in Arizona, where he averaged 17.6 points and had a dozen 20-point scoring games for the Cougars.
At Federal Way High School, Flavors earned honorable mention Associated Press All-State team honors and helped his team capture its second straight Washington state championship. He was named to the All-State Tournament team and named the tournament most valuable player in 2016.
Flavors chose the Cowboys over offers from Xavier, Washington State, Detroit and Wake Forest.
