Nebraska's Mr. Basketball is now a Cowboy.
Donovan Williams, an ESPN and Rivals four-star recruit, led all Nebraska high school players with 28.3 points per game. No slouch in the rebounding department, he also hauled in a team-high 8.1 boards per game, and added 1.6 steals and 1.4 assists per game.
Rivals lists Williams as the nation's 128th ranked recruit, while 247Sports also listed him among the top 150 recruits in the country and the No. 28 shooting guard.
He is a three-time First Team All-State selection and a two-time First Team Super-State honoree by the Nebraska Coaches Association. The Lincoln Journal Star also had Williams listed among their First-Team All-State selections in 2019 and 2020.
A true scorer from all three levels, Williams posted a school-record 50 points against Class A state champion Bellevue West just days after scoring 44 points against Lincoln Northeast.
Williams set new school records for points in a career, single-single season scoring average, as well as 3-pointers in a season and career.
As a junior, he averaged 21 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game while leading North Star to the Class A semifinals. The three-time all-city first-team selection scored 18.3 points an outing as a sophomore.
Williams, who plans to study criminal justice at OSU, chose the Cowboys over scholarship opportunities from Kansas State, Texas, Nebraska and others.
