Cowgirl Soccer Offense Shines In Spring Exhibition Opener

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State began the spring exhibition season in impressive fashion Saturday with an 8-2 victory over USAO at Neal Patterson Stadium.
Olyvia Dowell and Grace Yochum had hat tricks for the Cowgirls, while Megan Haines and Alex Morris also tallied goals;Â Charmé Morgan recorded three assists.
OSU jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the opening half. Morgan delivered a ball down the flank to Dowell, who finished for the first score of the match, and a Yochum header off a Morgan corner kick made the score 2-0.
After USAO cut the Cowgirls' lead in half with a penalty kick, OSU notched a late goal just before intermission when Yochum smashed a free kick from just outside the box into the back of the net.
Haines got the scoring starting in the second half, with Morgan providing yet another assist, before Yochum completed her hat trick off an assist from Hayley Ledford to make the score 5-1.
Dowell notched the next two goals for the Cowgirls before another successful penalty kick by the Drovers made the score 7-2.
OSU's final score of the day came from Morris as she took a pass from Rebekah George and ripped a low shot to the far post.
Maleah Milner and Hannah Warner split time in goal, with Milner minding the net in the opening half.
The Cowgirls return to spring exhibition action Saturday when they host Central Oklahoma.
