Oklahoma State Jumps 17 Spots To No. 19 In Latest ITA Rankings
February 25, 2020 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State men's tennis team have moved up to No. 19 in the latest ITA Division I men's rankings released by the ITA on Tuesday. Oklahoma State's rise in the rankings comes in the wake of the team taking down No. 4 Michigan in Stillwater last weekend.
The Cowboys have started the 2020 season with an 8-2 record and are currently on a four-match win streak. OSU opened the year with three victories in a row over San Diego State, Lamar and Bryant. Its first loss of the season came at the hands of No. 18 Columbia at the ITA Kickoff; Columbia is now ranked No. 7 in the country.
Oklahoma State would respond to that loss with a victory over No. 25 Arizona State in consolation play of the kickoff. The Cowboys dropped their next match to No. 22 Ole Miss but have not dropped a single match since then with wins over Memphis, San Diego, Northwestern and No. 4 Michigan. Northwestern is currently ranked No. 34 in the country, while Michigan has fallen to No. 5 after losing to OSU.
Oklahoma State is the fourth-highest ranked Big 12 team in the ITA Rankings. Texas (9-2) is ranked No. 4, TCU (7-4) is ranked No. 12 and Texas Tech (8-3) is just one spot higher at No. 18.
Next up, the Cowboys will face another top-20 opponent in Wake Forest on Sunday, March 1 in Stillwater.
